The Iwaki-gawa River originates from the Shirakami-Sanchi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and empties into the Sea of Japan after moisturizing the apple orchards along its banks and the farmlands of the Tsugaru Plain. Because of The Iwaki-gawa River, it supports 20% of Japan‘s apple production in Japan and the rich Jomon and rice cultivation culture of the Tsugaru Peninsula.
In this tour, we will trace the drop of water that was born in the Shirakami-Sanchi, hike through the native forests of Japanese beech, paddle through the fields of the Tsugaru Plain, and experience the history and culture of the Tsugaru Plain by cycling. The tour will cover a distance of more than 100 kilometers in 4 days and 3 nights using the Light Triathlon (walking, cycling, and canoeing) to experience Aomori’s nature, history, and customs.
Now, join us on a 101-kilometer journey connecting the water cycle and Tsugaru culture!
