Aomori Prefecture is not only home to nature, such as the World Natural Heritage Site Shirakami Sanchi (Mt. Shirakami), the heaviest snowfall in Japan (Mt. Hakkoda), and the cobalt blue waters of Lake Jyuni, but it is also home to the Jomon culture, which has flourished for over 10,000 years, the castle town of Hirosaki, and the largest apple industry in Japan.
About 40% of our clients are from Asia and 15% from Europe, the U.S. and Australia, but everyone is naturally surprised by the cultural diversity.

More than half of BBB’s clients are foreigners, but BBB guides do not have sufficient language skills and sometimes use gestures, illustrations, and facial expressions to communicate with them. BBB’s best “Aomori Iwakigawa River Adventure Tour “.
This 4-day/3-night adventure tour follows the 101-km course of the Iwaki River, which flows through the Tsugaru Peninsula on the western side of Aomori Prefecture, from its headwaters to its mouth!
The Iwaki River, which originates in the World Natural Heritage Site of Shirakami, has been flowing for a long time since the Jomon period and has nurtured the culture of the Tsugaru region. The journey begins with trekking through a beech forest to drink a drop of the forest, and then follows that drop by cycling and kayaking to Lake Jusan where the river mouth is located.
Please enjoy a trip to Tsugaru where you can feel the “great nature”, “Jomon culture”, “castle town”, “farming culture” and “seafood” that live and breathe in Tsugaru.
